I worked my first job yesterday. The kind of really-get-physical job and not the remain-in-one spot-and-take-photos kind of job. Of course, not saying that taking photos is a piece of cake, but what yesterday entailed - way more elbow grease needed. I came home feeling like my limbs and torso had been forcibly separated,
but every moment - worth it.
Apart from earning my own cash and really knowing that it isn't as simple as getting weekly allowances, it's the sort of thing that really made me appreciate the sheer amount of effort put into cafe meals - from the moment you step in to after you're gone when the dishes need to be clear etc etc. And lord bless the poor server who has to take down the orders for a table for four, each requesting something as complicated as a decaf, skinny flat white with no sugar added. (I haven't encountered that, and hopefully won't have to)
But anyhoo, I'm here mooching around on the web today, and here's some things I found interesting, and hope you do too.
#1 Kids of New York City
Never fails to make me yearn for the brownstones and skyscrapers and everything else about the place.
#2 Momofuku Milk Bar's Customized Birthday Cake
It's about time.
#3 Delicious is Disgusting: how one word conquered food porn
Word. (or lack thereof)
#4 The Sad Ballad of Salad
You are what you eat, quite aptly expressed.
#5 The time has come: I'm opening the Virgin snack box
This is nearly as good as that airplane complaint letter.
To be continued.
