The year rolls round, as it always and inevitably does. And again, it's the lunar new year.
I've been as busy as ever in the past few days working, writing and wondering what I intend to achieve for everything done. As such, I think that the next five days of respite - they're well-deserved.
When I was younger, pigtails were tied and cheongsams worn on Chinese New Year. Now, well, not so. Despite that, some things remain unchanged - such as having annual gatherings, too much buttery snacks and chinese tea to wash it down. And some things, they never change - too many photographs, me grimacing rather than smiling, as well as this much-needed hiatus from school.
And like any other festival, it's celebrated with flavors of the season. This time - oranges. I've got it bad, I think, for those little mandarin oranges which erupt into little bursts of citrusy-sweet juice with every bite. We've got a bag residing in the fridge, not to mention a basket by the door for exchanging, as well as red packets to go with them.
This list of recipes have oranges as a primary ingredient (well, for the most part), and very ingenious they are too. I can only hope you do make one (or more) of them.
