Watch Faces Crumble before my Awesome Gif-fing skills and Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble / recipe: Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble/
I'm not entirely sure why I said faces...
I've got a whole lot of things to say about "lately" - it's insane, inane, and feels like being on the fast lane.
Firstly, ONE more week till the end of school - hallelujah for now - which means that the past week was spent in that post-examination mode where teachers appear to be polarized between giving presents for the holidays *cough cough* and letting us sit back and enjoy the show a.k.a Captain America.
It hasn't exactly been my best week, frankly speaking. Think bouts of depression and internal monologues asking myself why I'm going to school amidst post-assessments bliss and broken watch straps. I won't go into the details here, but despite that, I've been attempting to suppress my persistently pessimistic nature and trying to be thankful, as well as not feeling too jumpy without my usual watch.
(Don't give me that smirk. I really AM trying to be nice and goody-goody here.)
Here's a short list of the here's to... I'll be toasting to, metaphorically - I'll probably be as drunk as a skunk if I were to do it in reality.
Okay, so now that the cringe-worthy emmy-award-worthy speech part's over, on to the food.
With all this madness going on at the moment, I've been too busy to come up with any recipes of late, sticking to too many bowls of oatmeal, pancakes andstovetop granola of late. But small matter. I already have a list of recipes to test out (and much cleaning up to dread).
Anyhoo, this crumble's something that I can indeed testify to be really, really good. Think less-sweet streusel on top of summer's bounty. Strawberry and rhubarb always seem to go so well together, somehow, seeing (or tasting, rather) that rhubarb appears to contain some notes of strawberry. After baking, drizzling on some chilled condensed milk (which I've been doing to EVERYTHING) wouldn't be a bad idea, with the milky tones in it.
* and a final note: this crumble is so, so aesthetically pleasing as well! My new wallpaper matches my laptop so, so well.
* and one final, final note: I am incredibly proud of my gif.-fing skills. To think that I didn't know what on earth a gif. was six months ago.
